Induction Furnace Power Supply

induction furnace power supply

The induction furnace power supply and capacitor box are the most basic components in the intermediate frequency heating furnace.

A medium frequency induction furnace is a power supply device that converts power frequency 50HZ AC into medium frequency (above 300HZ to 20K HZ). It converts three-phase power frequency AC into DC after rectification and then converts DC into adjustable medium frequency current. The medium-frequency alternating current flowing through the capacitor and the induction coil generates high-density magnetic force lines in the induction coil, and cuts the metal material contained in the induction coil, generating a large eddy current in the metal material.

The medium frequency induction furnace refers to an induction furnace powered by a power supply with a current frequency in the range of 150-8000Hz. The use frequency is 150-2500Hz. As the capacity of the furnace increases, the frequency of the current used decreases. The capacity of the domestic medium frequency induction furnace ranges from 50KG to 20T, and the current frequency is correspondingly 2500-150Hz.

The induction furnace power supply and capacitor box are the most basic components in the intermediate frequency heating furnace.

This equipment structure is the most commonly used, such as intermediate frequency forging furnaces, intermediate frequency melting furnaces, etc., all adopt this structure. The equipment is simple, low loss, high work efficiency, and low manufacturing cost.

Compared with the intermediate frequency furnace with a transformer, the induction coil of the above intermediate frequency heating furnace is relatively long, and it is usually wound with a copper tube with a length of 3 meters to 10 meters. Since the intermediate frequency power supply is directly output, the maximum voltage on the induction coil is 550V, and it is not isolated from the main power supply, so the induction coil must be well insulated and cannot be directly exposed to the outside;

Generally, the intermediate frequency furnace power supply is a standard product, and the frequency range is 1-20KHZ, which automatically follows; we need to design the capacitor box and induction coil according to the customer’s heating workpiece and heating requirements, so as to achieve the best heating effect and the best heating efficiency.

The induction furnace power supply is mostly used in heating occasions that require diathermy, such as:

(1) Heated forging of standard parts

(2) Melting of various metal materials

(3) Motor rotor heating fit

(4) Heating pipe expansion at the end of the steel pipe

(5) Mold diathermy

(6) Intermediate frequency quenching for shafts

(7) Weld preheating or tempering after welding, etc.
