Induction Furnace & Vertical Continuous Casting Machine Features

Induction furnace

Induction furnaces are industrial furnaces that use the principle of electromagnetic induction to melt metals.

The main components of the induction furnace are the inductor, the furnace body, the power supply, the capacitor and the control system.

The AC power supply used in the induction furnace has three types: power frequency (50 Hz or 60 Hz),

intermediate frequency (60-10000 Hz) and high frequency (higher than 10000 Hz).

It’s divided into two categories:

Induction melting furnace

Induction heating equipment.

Induction smelting furnace is used for smelting or heat preservation of materials, and the charge is finally in liquid state;

Induction heating equipment is used for material heating, including overall uniform heating, surface heating or local heating of materials.

Vertical Continuous Casting Machine

Continuous casting technology started many years ago with vertical casters.

This change affects a considerable proportion of ingot production, and the cost reduction is significant.

Arc-shaped casters appeared shortly after, which also resulted in significant cost savings and simplified operations.

For very special steel grades, vertical casters still have advantages.

And in the case of extremely high quality requirements, there is almost no limit to the steel grades that can be cast due to the absence of bending and straightening steps.

In addition, the completely vertical casting direction creates the best floating conditions for non-metallic inclusions, ensuring excellent internal cleanliness of the slab.

The advanced technology package that is widely used in modern arc casters today also expands the operating range of the vertical casting process.

The latest concept of large-section round billet casting and the corresponding operating results demonstrate the unique advantages of vertical continuous casting.

Vertical casters are capable of casting almost any steel grade.

They are used to cast steel grades that cannot be cast by conventional arc casters.

Vertical continuous casters eliminate bending and straightening forces, maximize molten steel cleanliness, and cast slabs or blooms that are uniform in texture and symmetrical in shape.

Advantages of Induction Furnace & Vertical Continuous Casting Machine

Advantages of Induction Furnaces:

1.Fast heating speed, high production efficiency, less oxidative decarbonization, saving material and forging die costs.

Since the principle of intermediate frequency induction heating is electromagnetic induction, its heat is generated in the workpiece itself.

Ordinary workers can carry out the continuous work of the forging task ten minutes after going to work with the intermediate frequency electric furnace,

and there is no need for professional workers to burn the furnace and seal the furnace in advance.

There is no need to worry about the waste of heated billets due to power outages or equipment failures.

Due to the fast heating rate of this heating method, there is very little oxidation.

Compared with coal-fired furnaces, each ton of forgings saves at least 20-50 kilograms of steel raw materials, and its material utilization rate can reach 95%.

Because the heating method heats evenly and the temperature difference between the core surface is extremely small,

the life of the forging die is greatly increased in forging, and the surface roughness of the forging is also less than 50um.

2.Superior working environment, improve workers’ labor environment and company image, no pollution, low energy consumption.

Compared with the coal furnace, the induction heating furnace is no longer subject to the baking and smoking of the coal furnace under the scorching sun,

which meets the requirements of various indicators of the environmental protection department,

and at the same time establishes the company’s external image and the future development trend of the forging industry.

3.The heating is uniform, the temperature difference between the core and the surface is extremely small, and the temperature control accuracy is high.

The heat of induction heating is generated in the workpiece itself,

so the heating is uniform and the temperature difference between the core surface is extremely small.

The application of temperature control system can realize precise control of temperature and improve product quality and qualification rate.

The Advantages of Vertical Continuous Caster:

1.The casting machine occupies a small area and the equipment is compact

2.It’s an ideal solution for clean steel production

3.The vertical design creates the best conditions for the inclusions to float up to the meniscus

4.Non-metallic inclusions are effectively trapped by the mold powder

5.The microstructure is completely symmetrical and the material properties are uniform

6.Electromagnetic stirring improves internal quality and optimizes microstructure

7.The heat transfer conditions of the mold are optimized, and the surface of the slab is smooth

8.The deformation of the billet is small

9.Computer-controlled operation ensures the stability of the quality level

Intermediate frequency induction furnace, vertical CCM is widely favored by customers as an indispensable metal smelting furnace and continuous casting equipment in the smelting industry.
